Bromley Rugby Football Club came alive last weekend as it hosted an inspiring Rugby Fest in celebration of the Red Roses’ World Cup victory. The event brought together around 50 young female players for an unforgettable day of rugby, learning and inspiration, joined by England stars and World Cup winners Abi Burton and Meg Jones.
The Rugby Fest, run in partnership with the RFU and attended by development officers for Kent and Middlesex, was designed to build momentum for women’s and girls’ rugby following the Red Roses’ incredible success on the global stage. Through a series of dynamic drills, skills sessions, and motivational talks, participants not only honed their rugby technique but also gained the chance to meet and learn from two of the game’s most iconic players.
The energy and enthusiasm on display throughout the day reflected a growing movement across grassroots clubs to open rugby’s doors wider for women and girls. Abi Burton and Meg Jones shared their own journeys, showing young players that with passion and perseverance, there are no limits to what they can achieve in the sport.
At TackleLondon, we’re proud to support events like these through our ongoing partnership with community rugby clubs. Our work goes beyond the pitch: we provide free trauma and adversity awareness training to coaches in TackleLondon clubs, helping them understand and respond to the needs of young people who may have experienced difficult starts in life. We also signpost and refer young people who could benefit from the structure, belonging, and positive community that rugby provides.
