TackleLondon U14 Boys 7s Schools Tournament

On the 7th of March 2025, rugby fever took over Croydon as TackleLondon proudly hosted its first-ever U14 Schools 7s Tournament! With nine schools and over 100 young players stepping onto the field, the day was packed with passion, sportsmanship, and unforgettable moments.

The tournament wasn’t just about the action on the pitch—it was a celebration of the power of sport to create safe and positive spaces for young people in London. The event was attended by key figures, including representatives from New Deal for Young People and the Deputy Mayor of Croydon, both of whom witnessed firsthand the incredible impact of community-driven rugby initiatives.

Fierce Competition & Unforgettable Matches

The tournament saw schools battling it out with grit and determination, producing some nail-biting encounters.

  • The Plate Final: Oasis, Shirley emerged victorious, overcoming Oxted with a well-earned 22-12 win.
  • A Semi-Final for the Ages: Riddlesdown and Sackville played out a 19-19 thriller, with Sackville securing their place in the final through a dramatic golden try!
  • The Grand Finale: Sackville dominated Coombe Wood, claiming the first-ever U14 Matt Ratana Boys Schools 7s Cup with an emphatic 33-0 victory.
