TackleLondon is incredibly grateful to the UCL Men’s and Women’s Rugby teams for hosting a brilliant tag rugby tournament fundraiser in support of our work with young people across London.
The event brought together players, supporters and organisers from across both clubs, creating a day that celebrated collaboration, shared values and the power of sport to make a difference. Thanks to their collective efforts, the fundraiser raised over £600 from 65 donors – a truly impressive achievement and a clear example of community at its finest.
Charlotte Leadsom, President of UCL Women’s Rugby, reflected on the impact of the day:
“The charity fundraiser for TackleLondon was a huge success and everyone involved thoroughly enjoyed it. Doing this for such a special charity at the heart of our collective club values was very rewarding, and we can’t wait to see what TackleLondon will do with it. We hope to work together again soon, and that our contribution can assist with their amazing work.”
Jasmine Dawson-Otter, Outreach Officer for UCL Women’s Rugby, highlighted the wider significance of the event:
“The fundraiser was particularly valuable for both clubs and it was great to see everyone come together for such a great cause. TackleLondon’s mission is particularly inspiring in this day and age – getting children involved in team sports from the get-go. Creating an atmosphere that highlighted the positive impact sport can have when people collaborate and work together really echoed the importance of TackleLondon’s goals.”
Callum Bonetti, President of UCL Men’s Rugby, echoed these sentiments:
“The charity touch rugby tournament we hosted for TackleLondon was a brilliant event for a charity doing really incredible work. Seeing both clubs come together to raise money for such an important local charity was fantastic. We hope to work with TackleLondon again in the future and see how their work continues to assist young people in London.”
We are sincerely thankful to everyone involved – from the organisers behind the scenes to every person who donated, played or came along to support. Partnerships like this help ensure that young people continue to have access to safe spaces, positive role models and opportunities through sport.
